Kuala Lumpur Workshops April 2019

Last April I had the privilege of sharing my lettering skills in Malaysia with Cziplee and Stickerrific. I taught three classes there and did an event on the first weekend on April 2019. My first two classes in Cziplee was about Improving Your Brush Calligraphy. In this interactive/coaching-type workshop, I not only talked about the importance of practice to improve your brush calligraphy, but I shared with my students how to practice effectively. A smart method of practicing which includes several practical steps that guarantees improvements when you practice this way. To my surprise, my Saturday class sold out immediately, and I was happy to hear that some students transferred to the Friday class to give way to those who can not...

Jakarta Workshops September 2018

A big thanks to Tombow Indonesia (PT. Datascrip) for inviting me to teach two classes in Jakarta last September 22 to 23, 2018. This is my first international workshop class. I had so much fun sharing my skills and getting to know everyone! My first class was on Brush Lettering Composition & Floral Decorations. This advanced workshop is designed for those looking to enhance their lettering composition skills. I also shared some brush lettering styles and an easy floral decoration style to improve their overall composition. I had the best workshop assistant, the extremely talented @jerome_jonathan! My second class was about Creative Brush Pen Techniques. This workshop can be...

4 Easy Steps to Lettering Composition (Like A Pro)

Planning your lettering composition can be daunting, and it may seem like you need to spend more time on it rather than the lettering itself. It may be sometimes true, but let me break it down into 4 easy-to-follow steps on how you can do lettering composition like a pro!  1. Choose Your Quote You don’t have to spend so much time in browsing and choosing the perfect quote to do for the day. As long as you believe in the message of the quote and it has correct spelling and grammar, go for it! You can write your own quote if that’s easier for you. 2. Select the Words to Highlight Normally in lettering composition, we do not write...

Lettering Using LEAVES!! (Trying something new)

Happy New Year, everyone! I was inspired by Stefan Kunz to "Create something even if it sucks!" So I tried a new style of lettering using LEAVES and ink. It was my first time trying this technique. I thought of this technique a while back. Since then, I wanted to try this technique, but I was afraid that it won't turn out okay and I never tried it out. But since it's New Year, and I'm feeling inspired, I decided to finally give it a try! #LeafLettering I like the results, I hope you do to! It was messy to make but worth it! This is the final edited artwork. Enjoy! I encourage you to try something new, or to try this...
